At AHCC, we believe the Bible teaches that parents are the primary spiritual influencers of their children. Deuteronomy 6:6-9 gives the main responsibility for shepherding, teaching and growing kids to parents. Whether in the car, at the dinner table or in the chaos of life, parents are to be intentionally forming their kids in the ways of Jesus.
We believe the Bible teaches the churches job is to come alongside parents and families to help equip them in this role. At AHCC, we do this through providing a Sunday morning program (Sunday Adventures), having a "Kid's Wall" with resources, books and tools for parents. We also provide take home materials from Sunday's lesson and a monthly email with updates. Lastly, from time to time, we offer parenting and marriage classes to teach helpful principles and practices.
We're excited to come alongside your family and help you and your kids passionately follow Jesus!
The person and work of Jesus Christ is at the center of who we are and how we live. Every lesson points to Jesus and the Gospel. (Romans 1:15-16)
We value being known as the Family of God and children are full members of that family. We desire to connect kids to God, His church, and to one another. (1st Cor. 12:12-13)
The Bible is the Word of God and vital to our daily lives. By providing a solid biblical foundation we will equip kids to know and apply the scriptures to their lives. (2nd Timothy 3:16)
We will instruct the mind, engage the heart, and equip the hands of children so they can fulfill the Great Commission by growing into disciples who make disciples. (Mark 16:15)
Children will be safe and feel safe, both physically and emotionally, so parents can rest assured that their child is well cared for. (Mark 10:14)
We will show children that Jesus Christ and the Gospel are part of every day and every situation. (Hebrews 4:12-13)
Creating a fun environment and positive memories will draw children closer to Jesus and to each other. (Ecclesiastes 8:15)
We want kids to be “cemented” in the foundation of truth, especially a world that can be lost & messy. Taking into account the experiences of kids, these simple statements are to be used as tools to point them back to God. Every discipleship moment can address one of these truths.
I am special to God, even when I don’t feel special
God is with me every day, all the way
What God thinks of me matters most
If God said it, I can trust it
God’s plans are good even when they don’t feel good
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."
"We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done. He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our ancestors to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands."
